International Ideathon

In the last week of November, the Penafiel Business Association (AEP) hosted a memorable event: the EU Ideathon International, which brought together students from Portugal, Spain and Romania for an intensive week of collaboration and innovation. During the five days, AEP’s facilities were transformed into a vibrant environment where future entrepreneurs practiced essential skills and competencies to generate, hone and present new sustainable business ideas.

The EU Ideathon provided students with a unique experience, working in international teams and facing real challenges related to sustainable entrepreneurship. From the initial conception of innovative ideas to the construction and refinement of solid business models, participants were guided by experts in the field, providing practical and immersive learning.

The culmination of the event was the exciting presentation session, where the students had the opportunity to pitch their ideas in the prestigious auditorium of the Penafiel Municipal Museum. This moment not only demonstrated the exceptional talent and dedication of the participants, but also highlighted the EU Ideathon’s ongoing commitment to fostering a new generation of sustainable entrepreneurs.

The EU Ideathon International, successfully held at AEP, not only strengthened ties between participants from the three partner countries, but also consolidated the project’s position as a catalyst for innovation and sustainability in entrepreneurship education. Stay tuned for more exciting highlights and achievements as the EU Ideathon continues to inspire and empower future leaders in creating a more sustainable world.

Participating in the EU Ideathon in Portugal has been an incredibly enriching experience. The methodology used, based on collaborative work and the use of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, allowed students to tackle real-world challenges in a practical and motivating way. I witnessed how students not only developed key skills such as critical thinking and creativity but also learned to work in a multicultural and international environment. This experience has been an excellent starting point to continue integrating sustainability and entrepreneurship into our training programs

The EU Ideathon in Portugal was an inspiring opportunity for both students and teachers. The event encouraged us to think outside the box and apply innovative approaches to solving entrepreneurial and sustainability challenges. Working alongside colleagues and students from different countries was an eye-opening experience that broadened our perspectives and enriched our teaching practices. I believe the skills and ideas generated during the Ideathon will have a lasting impact on our future projects and the way we approach entrepreneurship in our classrooms.

As a teacher deeply involved in the preparation of the EU Ideathon in Portugal, I can say that the collaborative effort among all partners truly paid off. The planning phase was intense, but seeing the students actively engaged and creatively developing sustainable business ideas was incredibly rewarding. The combination of international teamwork, innovative methodologies, and the use of artificial intelligence created an environment that was both challenging and inspiring. This experience has reinforced my commitment to integrating these approaches into our curriculum and fostering a culture of sustainability and entrepreneurship in our VET programs.
