Between 21st and 23rd November, Penafiel hosted the Facts VET Force Competition, an event held at the Penafiel Business Association as part of the Erasmus+ programme. For three days, 30 students from Spain, Romania and Portugal came together to discuss ways of combating disinformation and fake news and to present innovative solutions for safer and more effective use of social media.

The event provided an environment of intense learning and exchange of experiences, promoting international collaboration and the development of digital and critical thinking skills. The students took part in workshops, conferences and group dynamics, where they explored topics such as post-truth, the impact of fake news and the use of fact-checking tools and artificial intelligence to assess the veracity of information.

The three days of work culminated in the presentation of awareness campaigns created by the international teams, reflecting the commitment and creativity of the participants. The Facts VET Force Competition was an important milestone in the project, standing out as an enriching experience that reinforces the importance of critical digital education and a joint effort to combat disinformation in today’s society.
